How I handle your data
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains which personal data I collect through this website and during translation work, why I use it, how long I keep it and what your rights are, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).
Data controller
Gabrio Micheli, GMT โ Gabrio Micheli Translations, VAT IT03531090540. For any question about your data, write to me at micheli.gabrio@gmail.com.
What data I collect
- Contact form: your name, email, the country your documents come from, any appointment date and the description you write.
- Messages and documents: what you send me by email or WhatsApp and the documents you ask me to translate, which may contain personal data about you or your relatives.
- Billing data: what is needed to issue an invoice.
- Technical browsing data: IP address and browser information, logged automatically by the hosting service to run and secure the site.
Why I use it
- To reply to your requests and prepare a quote (pre-contractual steps, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To carry out the translation, sworn statement or other service you ask for (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b)).
- To meet tax and accounting obligations (legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c)).
- To keep the site running and secure, and to count visits anonymously (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).
If your documents contain special categories of data, such as health information or court proceedings, I process them only to do the work you asked for.
Providing your data is optional, but without it I cannot reply to you or carry out the service.
Who I share it with
I do not sell or pass on your data to anyone. To work, I rely on a few providers who process data on my behalf:
- Netlify (website hosting) and Formspree (contact form delivery);
- Google (email) and WhatsApp (messaging);
- GoatCounter, to count visits anonymously, without cookies;
- certified fellow translators, only for languages I do not translate myself (French, German, Portuguese) and only for the documents in that file;
- my accountant, for billing data.
Sworn translations are also filed with the court or the notary, as the procedure requires.
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
How long I keep it
- Completed jobs (documents, translations, messages) and billing data: 10 years after the work is completed, to meet tax obligations and to protect myself against any claims, since I am personally liable for sworn translations. This also lets me give you a new copy if you need one.
- Requests that did not turn into a job: up to 24 months after our last contact.
- Technical browsing data: for the short period set by the hosting service.
Cookies
This site uses no profiling or analytics cookies. Visits are counted anonymously, without cookies, and fonts are served by the site itself, with no external services. That is why you see no cookie banner.
Your rights
At any time you can ask me to access, correct or delete your data, restrict its use, receive it in a portable format, or object to its processing. Just write to micheli.gabrio@gmail.com: I reply within one month.
If you believe your data is being handled improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority in your country of residence.
